Bushfire Relief Appeal

Rotary Queensland Bushfire Relief Appeal

Rotarians and Friends

Over the last couple of weeks we have seen the start of one of the potentially worst Bushfire Seasons ever in our Rotary District and surrounding areas of the state.

Some of our members have been affected though fortunately at this stage minimal damage and no loss of life. Our communities have not been as lucky.

I know many of our Rotarians, their families and our clubs are supporting front-line emergency staff and also looking to support the personal in the evacuation centres. In Stanthorpe as I was working at the Divisional Command Staging Area, a group of Stanthorpe Rotarians came up and asked how they could help. They had already assisted at the evacuation centre.  It was heart-warming to know I am part of such a caring and supportive organisation that works so strongly for the community.

In conjunction with the District Governors from our Queensland districts we are linking together to ensure we support the clubs in the affected areas and also to find out what is actually needed so that only the required assistance is given. The Clubs and Assistant Governors in these areas have been asked to come through their District if help is needed and all the DGs have promised on your behalf that we will be there. I know we will all do what we can for our Rotary Family and our communities.

We also requested assistance from RAWCS to set up a Relief Fund for the Bushfire Victims and Communities. And the RAWCS President, Treasurer and Project Manager have responded by quickly setting up our Relief Project. This gives total Tax Deductibility effect to any donation to the Fund. It also eliminates any administration fees being charged. We thank the RAWCS executive for offering to do this.

By going to the RAWCS website anyone can donate to:

Queensland Bushfire Relief Project (RARF) with number 19-2019-20 - through this
